Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michelle Williams has approved Kanye West’s name change, according to ABC7 and now, the rapper who has toppled music charts and created multiple memorable Hip Hop moments, will simply be known as ‘Ye’. He’ll have no middle name and no last name- just ‘Ye’.
The 44-year-old father of four cited personal reasons for the name change when he filed the petition on August 24th. In 2018, while promoting his eighth studio album Ye, he revealed in an interview that he believes “ye” is “the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means ‘you.’
Back in 2019, West considered changing his name to ‘Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West’, but didn’t follow through with the idea.
Separately, it’s been announced that an “intimate” new documentary about West, titled jeen-yuhs, is coming to Netflix next year.
